Rutas del Mediterráneo was founded in 2014 by a small group of writers who shared a conviction that the Mediterranean coast deserved more than the travel-brochure treatment it usually receives in English-language media.
We publish long-form essays — travel writing, cultural criticism, history, food writing — that take the time to look carefully at places and the people who live in them. We are not a news outlet. We do not publish breaking stories. We publish pieces that we hope will still be worth reading in five years.
Our contributors are based across the Mediterranean coast, from Catalonia to Murcia. We work slowly and edit carefully. We have no investors and no advertisers with editorial influence.
